Hanabi in Kumagaya city, Saitama prefecture, Japan. After being postponed for one day due to rain, the Kumagaya Hanabi was finally held on 13 August 2006. This is our second time watching Kumagaya Hanabi. Will there be another?

Wakaizumi no Otera is a Shinto shrine. It belongs to a family for generations. The statues of dogs are put around the shrine. Two dogs guard the entrance of the shrine.

Close on the right side of the temple, there is Wakaizumi Yochien. The kindergarten also belongs to the family.

Ice Rain in Honjo

Photos taken in Waseda-Honjo Dormitory on June 28, 2006
It was a hot-sunny day when suddenly the rain started pouring heavily around 4 PM. The sound of the rain was so unusual that made Hikari and me look out of the window. It was raining ice! Not snow, but ice. Peebles-like ice, solid hard. The first time we saw this happening in Honjo. Fascinating, but scary. One can only imagine what it can do to glasses, cars, or even human heads. The rain only lasted for 30 minutes.

I don't know the name of this flower. It just grows. I'm not sure if it was even there before last winter.
